GLASBURY ARTS ANNUAL EXHIBITION
Towards the end of October 2003, the first Glasbury Arts exhibition took place as a one-off event to raise funds for the village hall with a motley collection of display stands. This October saw our 21st Annual Exhibition take place in the same venue but with our own professionally designed and made stands which transforms the village hall into a gallery fit for the talented artists who exhibit.
In 2012 Glasbury Arts formed a partnership with Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and Art Gallery, which subsequently led to us co-founding and working together on the development of the Celebration of Welsh Contemporary Painting series of biennale exhibitions across Wales in 2017. This year’s series has sixteen venues stretching from Cardiff to Conwy and St Davids to Hay-on-Wye including Cyfarthfa Castle and ourselves.
We were delighted to include and feature work by the elder statesman of Welsh Painting, Charles Burton, arts lecturer Joanne Smith, Cardiff based abstract painter Amanda Turner, Ukrainian artist Svitlana Kosmin, Builth based painter Sorell, Matei, nationally known sculptor Sally Mathews, internationally renowned stone cutter Caitriona Cartwright plus local talented artists Jenette Arnold, Jessie Dixon, Jenni Hall, Juliet Parker Smith, Clarissa Price, Gracie Price, Maggy Roberts, Sue Thorne, Tracy Thursfield, Christine Williams, Sue Williams as well as the GCSE and A-Level students from Gwernyfed High School.
This year’s exhibition attracted a record 400 enthusiastic visitors including young people from Gwernyfed High School. We hope the photographs displayed here will give a taste of our 21st annual exhibition.
