Towards the end of October 2003, the first Glasbury Arts exhibition took place as a one-off event to raise funds for the village hall with a motley collection of display stands.
This October will see our 22nd Annual Arts Exhibition take place in the same venue, but with our own professionally designed and made stands which transforms the village hall into a gallery fit for the talented artists who exhibit.
We are delighted to be featuring artworks by sixteenartists in a range of mediums including paint, glass, textiles, stone, ceramics and photography.
Confirmed artists joining us this year includeinternationally renowned stone cutter Caitriona Cartwright, Ukrainian artist Svitlana Kosmin, Margate Art Prize finalist Jessie Dixon, tree and woodland photographer Mark Zytynski and glass artist Sue Thorne.
Also exhibiting will be a whole host of local artists including ceramist Gracie Price, textile artist DawnCripps, driftwood sculptor Stu Roberts, wax artist Christine Williams and painters Tracy Thursfield, Jenni Hall, Juliet Parker Smith, Clarissa Price, Sue Williams, Adrian Kay and Sarah Langton, as well as the GCSE and A-Level students from Gwernyfed High School.
Also on display will be a piece loaned from the collection at Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery especially for the exhibition.
Last year’s exhibition run entirely by volunteersattracted a record 400 enthusiastic visitors over the four days of opening. We hope the photographs displayed here from previous exhibitions will give you a taste of what to expect this year.
